GIFTED PARENT INVOLVEMENT MEETING MARCH 2024
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE GIFTED?
In Georgia, a gifted education student is defined as one who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with his or her ability(ies).
According the the NAGC, "students with gifts and talents perform--or have the capability to perform--at higher levels compared to others of the same age, experience, and environment in one or more domains. They require modification(s) to their educational experience(s) to learn and realize their potential."

RMS GIFTED MODEL
Rossville Middle School follows the gifted guidelines set forth by the state of Georgia. Our school uses the advanced curriculum model. This means that students who qualify for gifted placement will typically attend their four core classes (math, science, ELA, and social studies) with other gifted and/or advanced students. This can be modified on an individual basis as needed. Students in these classes receive curriculum that is tailored to their advanced academic needs. Most of their core teachers are gifted certified.
Students in gifted classes will still intermingle with others students on their grade level during class changes, lunch time, connections, and several other times throughout the day.
